Anjum Anand Biography

Anjum Anand is a British Indian celebrity chef of Indian cuisine. She was born in London to Indian parents and was brought up there. Apart from hosting cookery shows on Indian cuisines she has also published many books on cooking. She concentrates on Indian dishes. She published her first book on cooking Indian Every Day: Light Healthy Indian Food at the age of 25. In 2011 she launched the brand The Spice Tailor with seven authentic Indian sauces. She is currently settled in England.

 

She was born in London on 25 August 1971. Her childhood and adult days were spent at various cities such as Geneva, Paris, and Madrid. She was brought up as a believer of Hinduism. She completed her degree in Business Administration and was into business field before she discovered her true passion of cooking. She ran a business importing flat-pack furniture from Eastern Europe. She worked as a waitress at restaurants of New York, Delhi and Los Angeles for a short period.

 

Anjum adapted her own diet with minimum use of oil, as she had issues with her weight. She made traditional Indian dishes with a few variations and published her first cookery book at the age of 25. Later she published a few more books and was featured in cookery shows also. She appeared as a guest to UKTV Food's Great Food Live (2004 – 2007) and also appeared in BBC Two series Indian Food Made Easy broadcast in 2007. She also contributes her food recipes since 2007. Her recipes are published in the site, The Times Online. Anjum's Indian Vegetarian Feast, I Love Curry, Anjum's New Indian and Anjum's Eat Right For Your Body Type are some of her cookery books.
