Anjali Parvati Koda Biography

Anjali Parvati Koda is a noted playwright and screenwriter of Telugu language. She along with actor-director Rathna Shekar Reddy founded the popular theatre group of Hyderabad, Samahaara. She was born in a film family to film director, Mohan Koda. Her brother Rahul Koda is also a screenwriter. She wroter her first play Purushotham-He, the victim of Spiders and Pressure cookers at the age of 18 which received critical success. Her theater group Samahara plays a significant role in making theater plays popular among youngsters. ‘The Crest of the Peacock’ an educational play on mathematics was the first production under Samahara group. Its co-founder is noted actor-play director, Rathna Shekar Reddy. Apart from theatre productions, she has also assisted several ad films, television serials and Telugu feature films.

 

Anjali holds a degree in Mass Communication as well as Post graduation degree in English. Born in a filmy family with film background, she too joined the field of art. She wrote her firs play at the age of 18 which earned critical success. Her second play, Dominic Wesley was staged in the year 2011. This play is regarded as a landmark English play in Hyderabad's theater history. A stage adaptation of Franz Kafka's novella "Metamorphosis" titled Gregor Samsa was her third effort and now she is busy with her fourth theater production.

 

She has also co-written ‘The Last Wish Baby’, an adaption work of William Seebring's play with the same title, a satire play. Samahara’s maiden production The Crest of the Peacock did more than 50 shows. The same group has also staged adaptive works of many great writers like Tagore, Woody Allen, Athol Fugard etc.
