Ajay Singh Yadav Biography

Ajay Singh Yadav is an Indian politician from the state of Haryana. He is a former minister and MLA, currently associated with Indian National Congress. As a minister he has held portfolios - Power, Forests and Environment, and also Irrigation, Revenue and Elections at different points of time. Singh was a Member of the Legislative Assembly in Haryana for six consecutive terms, thus completing 25 years in Haryana as a legislator. Thus he is one of the senior most and influential congress leaders from the state of Haryana. He is the son of former MLA of Haryana, Rao Abhey Singh. Ajay was serving in Indian army force in the early 1980s, before he resigned his government job to join politics.

Ajay Singh Yadav was born on 2 November 1958 in Saharanwas, Rewari. He is married to Shakuntla Yadav and has two children. Ajay belongs to a political family in Haryana. His father Rao Abhey Singh has served as an MLA of Haryana. Following his father’s footsteps Ajay too entered the field of politics and earned more success and popularity than his father. Ajay’s education was completed at different cities of India, and he took B.Sc. and also completed his law studies. Yet he chose a different career.

He joined Indian army and became second lieutenant on 7 June 1980. After seven years of service, he resigned the post to join politics in 1987. Since then he has spent more than 30 years in politics, with 25 years serving as an MLA. He also became minister twice. In 2014 he resigned from his post as MLA, and he didn’t resign from the party. It was his 6^th term in state legislative assembly.
