Aditya Arya Biography

Aditya Arya is an Indian photographer and curator. He collects rare collections of photographs, curates and archives them through Aditya Arya Archive and India Photo Archive Foundation. He also remains as a chairman person and trustee of both these organizations. As per latest reports, he is crowdfunding for India’s first camera museum of the photographic arts, with support from Gurugram residents and eminent personalities such as actors Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher. He is also known for curating the Kulwant Roy collection of photographs in the recent times, and it was titled Kulwant Roy - Retrospective at the National Gallery of Modern Art. He is a founding member of the Academy of Photographic Excellence or APEX, and serves as faculty and advisory board member.

 

As a professional photographer, Arya is best known for his work relating to hotel photography, and has worked with different hotel chains across India and their foreign outlets. Radisson, Club Mahindra, and Oberoi group are among those hotel chains. He has extensively worked in regions such as Nagaland, Leh, Ladakh, Jaipur, Bihar etc, and has also exhibited his works in India and abroad. He is one of the leading photographers in Project 365, which creates and preserves visuals of the fast changing ancient culture and lifestyle of Tiruvannamalai of Tamil Nadu.

 

He has travelled extensively across India to explore the art of photography. He captured several rural areas of India through his camera. He closely worked with writer Vibha Joshi in Nagaland to capture shots of 16 remaining Naga tribes, and it’s one of his best works. Buddhist art in the 900-year-old monastery in Alchi, Ladakh and Khampti tribe in Arunachal Pradesh are other major works.
