Sujitha Biography

Sujitha is a successful television actress of Malayalam known for portraying central roles. She is one of the most popular television actresses and has also worked in Telugu and Tamil serials. ‘ Harichandanam’ on Asianet, where she portrayed the central role of Unnimaya is one of her most noted performances till now. She won Asianent Television Awards 2011 (special Jury Award) for this television serial. She has also appeared in a few movies of Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages in supporting role. She started her acting career as a child artist in the early 1980’s and has appeared in popular movies - Mundhanai Mudichu and Azhagan (Tamil), Hatya (Hindi) and Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal (Malayalam). She started playing adult roles in the late 1990’s, beginning with Tamil movie Vaali.

She was born in Thiruvananthapuram. But her childhood days were spent at Chennai. Her mother is a die-hard fan of Prem Nazir-Sheela pair and it was through her encouragement, Sujitha and her elder brother Master Suresh reached movies. Her brother has won National award twice for the movies, Malamukalile Daivam (1983) and My dear Kuttichathan (1984) and now is busy in the direction field, better known as film director Surya Kiran. As a child artist, she worked in more than 100 movies belonging to all south Indian languages and Hindi. Her first onscreen appearance was for the movie, Abbhas as K. R. Vijaya’s granddaughter when she was only 41 days old.

She reached serials after a good experience in movies. Yet she gained popularity through television serials than cinema. In the early 2000’s, she played supporting roles in Malayalam movies like Ingane Oru Nilapakshi, Summer In Bethlehem, Choonda, Melvilasam Sheriyaanu, Achaneyaanenikkishtam etc. Later she acted in Telugu and Tamil movies and became active in television. She is married to Ad Film Maker Dhanush. Her brother Surya Kiran is married to noted film actress, Kaveri.
