Shweta Tiwari Biography

Shweta Tiwari is one of the most popular faces of Indian small screen. She is regarded as a star of Indian television. She is a very successful actress, model, television host and dancer too, who has participated in many celebrity shows like Jhalak Dikhlaja 6 and Nach baliye 2. She is one of the star television anchors too. She is the winner of Bigg Boss Season 4, becoming the first female contestant to win the show. She won a whooping amount of 1 crore through the show. She has also been in limelight for a long period following her reveal that her first husband used to physical abuse her. She was married to Raja Chaudhary in 1998 at a young age and the couple had one daughter. She later divorced him in 2007, just before the win of Bigg Boss. In 2013, she got married to Abhinav Kohli, a television actor.

She was born on 4th October, 1980 to Mr. Ashok Tiwari and Nirmala Tiwari in Uttar Pradesh. She was raised in Mumbai. She has one younger brother. She schooled from St. Isabel Girls School in Mumbai and completed graduation from Burhani College. In 2001, she made her television debut through Ekta Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagii Kay in which she played the female protagonist, Prerna Sharma. This single role shot to success and she became a star overnight. This television show was one of the earliest hits of Balaji film and was continuously aired on STAR PLUS till 2008. She won ITA Award for Best Actress - Drama (Jury) in 2003 for the same role.

Later she acted in Jaane Kya Baat Hui, Adaalat, Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo and Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi. In 2012 she won ITA Award for Best Actress - Drama (Jury) for the lead role she played in Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi. She hosted ‘Rangoli’ on Doordarshan for a long time and ha salso appeared in a few Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu movies in supporting roles.
