Shivaji Satam Biography

Shivaji Satam is a popular television actor, most known for CID, detective series of Sony Entertainment television. He has also appeared in numerous Hindi movies in supporting roles. Yet, it was through the role of CID officer, ACP Pradyuman that has been successfully telecasted for more than a Jupiter year that gave him the star status. He is a former bank official who entered into the entertainment industry. He has also worked for Marathi film industry.

 

His noted Bollywood movies include – Hatyaar, Filhaal, Garv, Vaastav, Nayak, Jis Desh Me Ganga Reheta Hai, Jodi no.1, Kurukshetra, Ghulam-E-Mustafa, Daag: The Fire, Sooryavansham, Viruddh,Wajood, Pukar, Taxi No 9211, Yeshwant, China Gate and Hu Tu Tu. He received a nomination for best Actors award at Star Screen Awards for Ghulam-E-Mustafa. He has appeared in police officer/military officer roles in majority of these movies. He has won Maharashtra state awards for best actor two times. In 2002, he won it for the film Ek Hoti Vadi and has won best Actor award for the play Dhyaani Mani. As a television actor, he has only appeared in CID since 1998.

 

Shivaji Satam was born in a Marathi family on 21 April, 1950. He holds graduation in chemistry and diploma in Business Administration. Later he worked as a bank cashier in the Dena Bank's Worli Naka branch. His association with theatre and acting field happened only during this period. His acting talent was first recognized when he participated in the inter-bank stage competition. His first break to theatre was given by Bal Dhuri, the veteran Marathi theatre actor. Shivaji made his screen debut in 1980 in the popular TV series Rishte-Naate. He later acted in Famous Trials of India and successful Marathi show Ek Shunya Shunya. But it was CID which made him a top artist of television. CID was started long back in 1998 and even if it was called back in 2012, the show returned back due to public demand.
