Sagarika Ghose Biography

Sagarika Ghose is an Indian journalist, news anchor and author who has been in the field of journalism since 1991. She is married to Rajdeep Sardesai, a celebrated television personality and journalist. She has won several Indian awards in the field of journalism and has published two novels, The Gin Drinkers published in 1998 and Blind Faith in 2004. Most recently she received the NT Award for Best Public Debate Show in 2013, for her show ‘Question Time Didi’. Ghose received the ITA Best Anchor Award from the Indian Television Academy same year. CF Andrews Award for Distinguished Alumnus from St Stephen's College in 2012, Gr8-ITA award for Excellence in Journalism in 2009 and Excellence in Journalism Award (Aparajita Award) from FICCI Ladies Organisation in 2005 are other major awards received by her.

She was born in New Delhi on 8 November 1964 to Bhaskar Ghose, an IAS officer of 1960 batch. She is the niece of Arundhati Ghose, former ambassador and diplomat and Ruma Pal, former justice of the Supreme Court of India. She completed bachelor's degree in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. She won Rhodes scholarship in 1987 and took Bachelor degree in Modern History from Magdalen College and an M.Phil. from St Antony's College, Oxford. In 1991, she started her journalist career with Times of India. Later she worked with Outlook magazine and The Indian Express.

In 2004 she became the first woman to host Question Time India. Currently she is the deputy editor and a prime time anchor on the news network CNN-IBN. Like other female anchors, she too has been a victim of abuse on social media sites. She is married to journalist and news anchor Rajdeep Sardesai and couple has two kids.
