Raj Kalesh Biography

Raj Kalesh is a successful Malayalam TV host for cookery shows, who popularized traditional Malayalam dishes among Malayali TV viewers to some extend through one of the highly rated TV shows, The Taste of Kerala aired on Amrita TV in the mid-2000s. He is quite familiar to national level TV audience of reality shows. He was the runner-up of Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega in 2011 aired on Sony Television. Farah Khan and Anu Malik were the judges of the show. A multi-facet personality, he is a successful TV anchor, an excellent cook, a successful magician and a film actor.

Raj started his career as a TV anchor in the year 2000. He shot to fame after hosting the TV show, The Taste of Kerala aired on Amrita TV during Sundays at 12.30pm. It was one of the prime shows of the channel. This single show made him a household name. In fact he was the first successful male anchor of Malayalam cookery shows, and gave such shows a new definition through his new style of anchoring and presentation. He travelled in several rural villages of Kerala to present many traditional and tasteful dishes to foodies. His wife Divya Kalesh was the producer of the show, who worked with the same television channel.

He is the winner of two Kerala state awards for the best television presenter and has also won the Asian Television Awards for the year 2010. His passion to magic received a great recognition through the reality show, Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega in 2011 aired on Sony Television. Since then he has presented magic shows across the country.

He has now joined Malayalam film industry as a character artist. Till now he has played roles in Prithviraj starrer Sapthamashree Thaskaraha and Kunchakko Boban starrer Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi. He enjoys the different kind of roles he does to please his fans. He presented many travelogues, cooking, life style shows and presentation shows for Kerala audience. After the huge success of the cookery show, The Taste of Kerala different Malayalam channels followed the same steps to present cookery shows in the form of a travelogue. No doubt, The Taste of Kerala was a trendsetter.
