Purnima Talwalkar is a popular Marathi actress, known for essaying character roles. She is a Marathi stage, film and television actress. She has also appeared in a few Bollywood films like Pyar to hona hi tha and Mehbooba alongside Ajay Devgan. She is married to the famous Talwalkar family. Famous film maker and actor, Smita Talwalkar is her mother-in-law. Noted Marathi actress Sulekha Talwalkar is also married to the same family. Purnima’s younger sister Pallavi Vaidya is also a noted actress, associated with Marathi films and television. Purnima has appeared in the television shows produced by her mother-in-law.
Her maiden name is Purnima Bhave. She and her younger sibling Pallavi Vaidya are two well established names in Marathi entertainment industry. She has acted in famous Marathi serials - 'Avantika' and 'Honaar Suun Mee Hyaa Gharchi', the show which went off the air most recently in 2016 after running for 808 episodes since 2013. Purnima played the character role of Baby aatya, Shri's paternal aunt (Kaveri) in this popular Marathi series. Don ghadicha dav and Kalat Naklat are her other noted television soaps. Also a noted stage actress she has acted in Marathi Theater play 'Wah Guru!'
Purnima Talwalkar has also done a few roles in Bollywood films alongside Ajay Devgan, though not significant. She played Ajay Devgan’s younger sister in 1998 Bollywood romantic film – Pyar to hona hi tha. The movie was released one year before the marriage of star couple – Ajay Devgan and Kajol. She was also seen in Ajay Devgan starrer Bollywood romantic film – Mehbooba released in 2008. The movie also starred Sanjay Dutt and Manisha Koirala, and was a Bollywood disaster.
