Mamathi Chari Biography

Mamathi Chari is an actress, radio jockey, TV anchor and Television Presenter, who predominantly works in Tamil television industry. She made her small screen debut in the Tamil television show ‘Hello Tamizha’, a talk show aired on Star Vijay, and later appeared in a series of shows in the role of a host. Jiillunu oru challenge, Jillunu oru Jodi and Rani Maharani are some of her popular shows. Chari took a break from the industry and returned back with Vani Rani, a soap drama aired on Sun TV. She played a negative role in the series, and her role was appreciated. As per latest buzz, she has been chosen as one among the 16 contestants of the popular show, Bigg Boss Season 2, hosted by Kamal Hassan. She has published one book titled Old Madras and Its Various Facets.

Mamathi Chari was born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She completed her schooling from Sacred Heart Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. Her professional career began with Raj TV as a TV anchor and host. She also worked as a program producer. Chari is indeed multi-talented and brilliant. A polyglot, she can speak in ten languages fluently including Russian and German. As a TV anchor, her first show was Muthalvanakkam.

Two morning shows of Vijay TV, Hello Tamizha and Muthalvanakkam made her a household name among Tamil speaking audiences. Both these shows were immensely successful too. She also hosted a reality game show for Vijay TV, followed by the chat show “Jillunu Oru Jodi”. This show was quite popular among the youth, in which she used do discuss about love and relationship with couples. She worked as Radio jockey with Big FM 92.7, and Vani Rani marked her acting debut for TV soaps.
