M. V. Nikesh Kumar Biography

M. V. Nikesh Kumar is a prominent television personality from Kerala who currently serves as the   Managing Director and Editor in chief of Reporter TV, a Malayalam news channel. He is the son of prominent politician cum former state minister, M. V. Raghavan. He is a recipient of "RamnathGoenka Award for Excellence in Journalism" from the President of India.Nikesh Kumar is a very popular media person in Kerala.

Nikesh Kumar was born on October 7, 1973 in Kannur, Kerala to prominent politician M. V. Raghavan. He is married to Rani and the couple has two children. He completed bachelor degree in English Literature from Mar Ivaneous College, Thiruvananthapuram City. He started his career as a news reporter in Asianet. Later he joined India Vision - Kerala's first round-the-clock news channel, where he was mostly seen as a new reader. He joined the news channel as executive editor (news).He was mostly associated with programs related to politics and social issues. He has been a star anchor of news channel India Vision. ‘Newsnight’ every day at 09.00 pm was his most popular show. 

In 2010, he left India Vision to join newly started news channel "REPORTER".He was one of the founders of the channel and joined as MD. He anchors 'Editor's Hour' aired every day at prime time 9pm. He also anchors the weekly interview programme "Close Encounter", where he debates on many social relevant subjects and current affairs with many political and social leaders. Currently he serves as the MD and editor in chief of the channel.  He has also been in the midst of controversies, for telephoning former minister R. BalakrishnaPillai while in jail.
