Kavitha Nair Biography

Kavitha Nair is popular as an actress and anchor, associated with Malayalam cinema and television. She is also a writer. Started off with a TV show as an anchor for the morning show, Ponpulari, she later appeared in several television serials and a noted face among small screen viewers. Aparichitha, Rahasyam, Kaliveedu etc are some of her small screen roles. Mambazhakkalam, Kurukshethra and Swapnasanchari are her film roles. She used to write for a web magazine, Kanikonna and has published her collection of short stories - Sundara Pathanangal.

She was associated with acting since her school and college days and has won several prizes for competitions. It was one such performance which opened doors to small screen. She started her career as an anchor for Surya TV’s morning show, Ponpulari in 2007 and anchored the show for two years. She was only a college student then and talked on subjects of philosophy, health and even serious subjects. ‘Kaliveedu’ was her first TV serial, when she was offered a replacement for an artist who played Menaka’s sister’s role. Very soon she received some offers and was seen in ‘Aparichitha’ on Doordarshan, ‘Rahasyam’ on Asianet and a telefilm ‘Vadakakku Oru Hridayam’ on Amrita TV.

Priyamvada, a police officer in ‘Rahasyam’, was one of her breakthrough roles and when she started receiving similar roles, she declined. She also stayed away from mega serials as she didn’t want to typecast. She hosted many award shows and interviewed celebrities for many channels, through programs like ‘Ningalkkariyamo’. In between she did a few movies like Mambazhakkalam, Kurukshethra and Swapnasanchari, where she played character roles. She was seen in a song sequence in Hotel California opposite Anoop Menon in 2013. She published her book, a collection of short stories titled – Sundara Pathanangal.
