K (indian Musician) Biography

Krishna Kumar, shortly called ‘K’ is a Tamil film music composer. Yuddham Sei, Mugamoodi, Aarohanam and Onbadhule Guru are his noted Tamil movies as a music director. He has also composed music for one Malayalam movie, Annayum Rasoolum which marked the directorial debut of noted cinematographer, Rajeev Ravi. He has also worked on multiple short films aside full length movies as a music composer and presently one of the young composers of south Indian film industry. He has been associated with Mysskin’s movies.

He was born in Nagapattinam in 1987. While a child, his family got shifted to Chennai where he spent his childhood and youth days. He schooled at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan in Chennai. During school days, he started playing keyboard and later finished Grade 8 certificate exams in music with the Trinity College of Music, London. He joined his first rock band at the age of 12 and was later associated with the popular roll band ‘Panatella’, with which he had a long term association of many years. As a music director, he started off with jingles and corporate films. He also sang for them. While started working on a couple of short films on AIDS awareness, his name was referred to as ‘K’. Since then he has been calling himself K.

In 2010, he got his first major break in film industry. He was signed as the music director for critically acclaimed director Mysskin’s film Yuddham Sei. Its tracks became instant hits and Mysskin offered him the next directorial venture, Mugamoodi as well. Very soon, he got his big break in the form of Malayalam romantic movie, Annayum Rasoolum. All the songs became huge chartbusters, particularly the romantic track - "Kandu Randu Kannu". His upcoming Tamil projects are 'Mahabalipuram', 49-O, 'Kaadu' and 'Kallapadam'.
