Juhi Rustagi Biography

Juhi Rustagi is a popular Malayalam television actress best known for essaying Lakshmi Balachandran Thampi (Lachu) in the most popular comedy sitcom on Flowers TV, Uppum Mulakum. The show which completed 2 years, has already made Juhi a celebrity among Malayalam television audiences, especially NRI gulf Malayalis and YouTube viewers. She is a trained classical dancer and performer for years, who studied the art form from Kerala’s most prestigious art institution, Kerala Kalamandalam.

Juhi Rustagi hails from Kochi. But she has roots in Rajasthan. Rustagi was born on 10 July 1998 at Ernakulam, as the daughter of Reghuvir Saran and Bhagyalakshmi. Since school days she has been interested in art forms and hence participated in cultural events and competitions. Later she received training in dance forms from Kerala Kalamandalam.

She came in the lime light after the comedy soap opera Uppum Mulakum became an instant hit. She portrays the supporting role of Lachu in this very popular entertaining show. Though she doesn’t have conventional looks and is a Rajasthani, she managed to convincingly charm the Malayali viewers with ease through her cute expressions and feisty nature. She was casted in the show while she was doing her class 12 studies. Her school buddy Ananthakrishnan played a significant role to make Juhi an actress. He is the son of famous serial director R. Unnikrishnan who directed the show, Uppum Mulakum.

R. Unnikrishnan spotted Juhi in Ananthu’s birthday party and that’s how Juhi got her debut serial role. The role made her so popular that she wants the TV audience to remember her as Lechu. Her father is a Rajasthani who passed away 6 years ago. Juhi was born and brought up in Kerala. Now her family includes her mother and one elder brother, and both call her ‘Gudiya’. They speak Hindi at home.
