Arvind Babbal Biography

Arvind Babbal is a director turned producer associated with Hindi television soaps. He has directed many successful TV shows such as Kesar, Saraswatichandra, Shobha Somnath Ki, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani, Jiya Jale, Durgeshnandini, Awaz - Dil Se Dil Tak, Mera Naam Karegi Roshan etc. He also produced the show, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani for life OK. He is the younger brother of renowned author, and Television personality Ashok Chakradhar.

 

He was born in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh into a literal family. His father was a noted Hindi author Radheyshyam Pragalbh. His elder brother Ashok Chakradhar is also a renowned writer and poet. His mother’s name is Kusum Pragalbh. He was born on 2 March 1965. He is married to Rekha Babbal, an actress and social activist. Aravind completed his graduation in Commerce and started his career as an assistant director of famous Bollywood film director Lekh Tandon in 1986. TV serial – Akhirkaar marked his debut as an independent serial director. He moved to Mumbai in the late 1990s and since then he is fully associated with television field. Currently he is one of the leading directors of small screen, associated with several TV dramas.

 

Most recently in 2016 he was nominated at New York Festivals -International Television & Film Awards in the Best director category. He was nominated for the series, Maha Kumbh: Ek Rahasaya, Ek Kahani, the show which marked his debut as a producer as well. The show with 21 episodes started a new trend on Indian television of having finite series instead of dragging episodes. Most recently he set up his production house - Arvind Babbal Productions Pvt. Ltd.
