Amit Varma (actor) Biography

Amit Varma is a former model and popular television actor He is best known as the male model featured in the song, Haan pehli baar, sung by Kishore Kumar. He has also acted in Bollywood films. He played male antagonist in Shahid Kapoor-Vidya balan starrer Kismat Connection. He also played male protagonist in 2010 Bollywood movie, Detective Nani. His title role as Vishwamitra Kelkar on the hit television show Hotel Kingston on Life Ok made him a popular face on small screen. He played lead or parallel lead in 4 television serials including Hotel Kingston opposite Sonal Sehgal, Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai opposite Ami Trivedi and Annu Ki Ho Gayee Waah Bhai Waah opposite Sreejita De. 

Khichdi series in 2001 was his first break to small screen and he appeared in the supporting role of Raju Parekh, he third son of Tulsidas. He was paired with Tina Parekh. He played supporting roles in Saas Bina Sasural, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and Khichdi. Shararat, Aahat and Son pari are other popular works. He has been a formal model who appeared in music videos of Haan pehli baar, Boond, Challa etc. He shot to fame after featuring in the popular video, Haan pehli baar.

Amit was born in Mumbai in 1983. He studied at Don Bosco School in Matunga and Mithibai College in Mumbai. He started his career as a stage actor and has worked with actor Kadar Khan. Later he decided to join modelling field and also appeared in a few TV ads. Lifebuoy, VIP, Airtel and Close up ads made him a very familiar face on television, followed by ‘Haan pehli baar’ video. Very soon due to his chocolate image, he was offered the male protagonist role of television series, Hotel Kingston. Kismet connection marked his Bollywood debut.
