Akshay Sethi is a successful television actor known for both positive and negative roles. He played the double role of father and son in Sasural Genda Phool on STAR Plus which made him immensely popular. He has also appeared in numerous television ads. He is mostly known for portraying negative roles on small screen. Saat Phere, Waaris, Rahe Tera Aashirwaad, C.I.D., Hum Ne Li Hai- Shapath, Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Adaalat, Sasural Genda Phool, Baal Veer and Mogambo Gobango are among his popular roles. He played a cameo role in Savdhaan India. He played a magician in children’s series, Baal Veer.

Though television mini screen is overshadowed by powerful female roles, there are a few exceptions. Akshay is one such. He played the role of father and son in Sasural Genda Phool on STAR Plus, a huge contrast in these two characters both age and personality wise. This role made him popular and often compared with Amitabh Bachchan's twin role in Bollywood movie, Aakhri Rastaa. This actor believes that ‘S’ alphabet is lucky for his career. ZEE TV’s Saath phere, Star Plus’ Saathiya and Sasural Genda Phool gave him fortunes in the form of good roles and appreciation.

He has appeared in more than 200 television commercials. His father was into film industry. His real dream was to become a film director. But he got a television ad on popular coke Limca and that’s how he got into modelling field. Limca, Cadbury Perk , Honda – R 15 , Amul Lassi , Sprite Coke and TVS Apache are the popular ads in which he appeared. His instant choice is ad films too.
