Swati Piramal Biography 
Swati Piramal is a towering figure in the pharmaceuticals domain. She is a leading scientist and entrepreneur, known for her contributions to Indian pharmaceutical industry. She is the Vice Chairperson of Piramal Enterprises Ltd and she is known for her contributions in the past two decades for the formulation of new drugs. She is a MBBS graduate from Mumbai University and completed MPH from Harvard University, USA.
Apart from her services to pharmaceutical industry, she has been associated with many health related organizations and has started e-swastya, a digital health initiative in rural Rajasthan and Sarvajal, a project to distribute drinking water to rural areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat. She is also the Director of the Piramal Foundation. In 2012, Indian government honoured her with Padma Shri for her contributions to Indian pharmaceuticals and health sector. She is the only woman to serve on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Prime Minister of India and she served in the Board for long 10 years from 2001 to 2011.
She was born in Mumbai in the year 1956. After completing MBBS from Mumbai University in 1980, she completed DIM college of Physicians & Surgeons, from Industrial Medicine, Mumbai. Later she finished MPH Master of Public Health from prestigious Harvard University. At present Piramal group owns patent for more than 200 drugs accepted globally and their research works are concentrated on cancer, diabetes, inflammation and infectious diseases.
In association with HMRI - a mobile health service, she is known for promoting and creating general awareness about health in the rural areas of India. She has been honoured globally several times for her achievements. BMA Management Woman Achiever of the Year Award in 2005, Global Empowerment Award in UK in 2010 and Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite from French Government in 2006 are among those.
