Pucadyil Ittoop John Biography 
Pucadyil Ittoop John is a leading and influential Indian plasma physicist and scientist from the state of Kerala. He is one of the senior scientists at the Institute for Plasma Research in Bhat, Gandhinagar.He currently serves as Meghnad Saha Chair in Plasma Science and Technology at the Institute for Plasma Research, Ahmedabad. He was the Chairman of the Plasma Physics Group at PRL until 1982. Also known for his steps to initiate India’s Fusion Research Program, for his contributions towards the field of science, Government of India honoured him with the fourth highest civilian honour - Padma Shri in 2010.
Pucadyil Ittoop John hails from Kottayam, Kerala. He completed his doctoral studies at Aligarh Muslim University. He started his professional career at Physical Research Laboratory in the early 1970s and also established an experimental plasma physics program in 1972. He served as its chairman until 1982. He initiated Plasma Physics Program in India, which led to the founding of Institute for Plasma Research in 1986, an autonomous physics research institute for Theoretical & Applied research. He started a plasma processing program at IPR in the early 1990s, which later developed into Facilitation Centre for Industrial Plasma Technologies at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He headed the organization for many years and still a member of its governing Council.
He served as the Head of the Physics Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency during 2002 – 2003. Currently he serves as the chairman of the Board of Research in Fusion Science & Technology, best known for National Fusion Program. Apart from his research works, he also taught many students and guided them in their doctoral studies. He also published numerous papers related to the subject of Plasma Physics, and has written a book entitled "Plasma Sciences and the Creation of Wealth." His other interests include writing poetry, and he owns a personal poetry blog.
