Om Prakash Agrawal Biography 
Om Prakash Agrawal is a Conservationist, who currently serves as the director general of INTACH Indian Conservation Institute. As an administrator, he has earlier served as the director general of ICCI and NRLC. One of the leading conservationists of present time, he is a co-founder of numerous organizations dedicated to this sector, such as Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Indian Council of Conservation Institute (ICCI) and the National Research Laboratory for the Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC). For his overall contributions towards the area of conservation, government of India honoured him with Padma Shri in 2011. He is also a recipient of ICOM Award in 1990 and ICCROM Award in 1993.
Om Prakash Agrawal was born in the year 1931. He is married to Usha Agrawal. He is also a writer, Museologist, Historian & Art Collector. He completed his Master’s degree in Chemistry. He became one of the founders of National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property in 1976 and served as its director till 1985. One year earlier he along with Pupul Jayakar founded the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. He also played an important role in the formation of the Indian Conservation Institute. He has published 37 books in total apart from over 200 articles in different magazines.
After retirement he joined National Research Laboratory for the Conservation of Cultural Property as director general, and served in this post for some years. He serves as a consultant to several international bodies including UNESCO, International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, International Council of Museums and Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts.
