M. P. Parameswaran Biography 
M. P. Parameswaran is an Indian nuclear engineer, an atomic scientist, educationist and writer from Kerala. An eminent science contributor, his areas of interest include environment, education, rural development, energy, publication, etc. One of its founding members of All India Peoples Science Network, he served as its secretary and later as President. An educationalist he took initiative of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, focused on massive literacy campaign in India. He also served as its Secretary and later the Vice-president. A prolific writer in science, he authored 29 science books in Malayalam and English. A full time activist of Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad, he played a major role in the progress of the movement across the country.
He was born on January 18, 1935. He completed his Engineering studies in the year 1956. He joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai in 1956 as a scientist where he continued for almost two decades till 1975 when he resigned to join Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad. He completed PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Moscow Power Engineering Institute in the year 1965. On the deputation of BAARC, he also served assistant director of the State Institute of Languages in Kerala for four years since 1969.
In the early 1970s, a people’s science movement was started in Kerala which led to the formation of Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad. The movement promoted science and received support from intellectuals, science teachers and technicians. He too resigned his job at BAARC to join the movement. He took the movement to the national level and achieved success as well. His literacy initiative in the 1990 made Kerala the first 100% literate state of India. His books on the science subjects such as atomic science, astronomy, mathematics etc give a panoramic view of science. He is also a leftist member and authored book on this subject - Janakeeya Sasthra Prasthanam in 2008.
