Ajai R. Singh Biography 
Ajai R. Singh is a psychiatrist, a columnist and an occasional poet. Currently he is the editor of Mens Sana Monographs, belonging to World Association of Medical Editors. He has regularly written columns on psychiatry, philosophy, bioethical issues, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry. He started writing in the year 2003. He has given lectures and has also received numerous awards for his research papers. ‘Psychology of dying and the psychotic patient’, (1980), 'Withdrawal: a prognostic indicator for paranoid schizophrenia’ (1986), ‘Death, Dying and near death experience’ (1987 and 1988) are his noted scientific papers. He is a member and specialty editor of the Journal Committee of the Indian Journal of Psychiatry. He is also the Founder President of a non-profit music organisation called Swara Sampada. He is married to noted writer, Shakuntala Singh with whom he has co-authored many books.
Singh was born in Mumbai on 23 March 1953. His writings from 2003 to 2010 in psychiatry covered subjects on fourth psychiatric revolution, psychiatric consequences of the WTC collapse and the Gulf war. Alongside serious writings, Singh has written spoofs on psychiatrists and clinical psychologists. In 2005, he wrote the monograph, ‘Medical practice, psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry: and ever the trio shall meet’ in the Mens Sana Monographs. In 2007, alongside his wife he edited the same monograph giving new conclusions. As an active discussant on the World Association of Medical Editors forum, he has written on variety of subjects.
He has also written on the topic of journalology like the summary dismissal of the editor of the CMAJ, John Hoey. Singh is also an occasional poet who has published poems like 'A case of identity', 'More smoke', 'Woman', 'Silences' and 'Parliament'.
