Jim Morrison was one of the most iconic musicians in the history of music or more importantly, in the history of rock music. He was born to an army general for a father and a strict disciplinarian for a mother. As a child he was very aloof and shy but he also showed signs of intelligence which was way ahead of his peers. So he was normally shunned by society.
But as he grew up he began opening up. Especially his early years in college when he began to show his academic prowess and this earned him much adulation and popularity. He then began to realize his potential as a poet. Jim as a student soon began withdrawing from his social life and began frequenting local poetic hangouts in San Francisco and this was where he let himself be influenced by the beat poetic culture. It was only a few years later that one of Jim’s friends made him sing just to see if he could. But when he sang, he literally took everyone’s breath away. That’s when he realized that he was a very talented singer.
Soon, Jim and his friend began assembling a band and they named it The Doors. The Doors began as a confused, normal rock band and under Jim’s extreme talents progressed to become one of the most popular rock bands of that era in the world. Jim was known as a rock god. His steady climb in the world of music was accentuated by the same level of self-destruction aided by alcohol and other substances. At the height of his prowess Jim Morrison could blow your mind away but there were times when people just couldn’t stand him. He was a contradictory enigma. A brilliant, intelligent person could sometimes be so insane that it was impossible to contain him.
He met his demise at the age of 27 due to heart failure. Millions all over the world were incredibly saddened by his inevitable death. His memorial in Paris is till now the third highest visited monument in France after Eiffel tower and the Louvre museum.
