The latest superstar of Malayalam cinema – Dileep who has entertained the crowd with his comedies has filed his divorce most recently. When the star couple Dileep-Manju warrior decided to end their 15 years long married life, it was nothing short of a disaster for all those who loved both these actors. They together appeared in many movies in a short span of 3 years in the late 1990s and their marriage in 1999 was a quick decision. Manju took a break from acting field as well. Is it because of personal indifferences or first preference to respective careers which prompts the celebrated hero or heroine to break the bliss of marriage? Through this article let me add a few more jodis whose love marriage ended in divorce.

Sreenath and Shantikrishna – One of the most celebrated pair onscreen in the 1980s. They worked together in numerous movies and was a popular couple as well. But their personal drifts resulted in their divorce in 1995. Both moved on and settled with a new family life as well. But Srenath became a victim of depression and his continuous failures in his professional career ended with his suicide.

Manoj. K. Jayan and Urvashi – They were one of the most successful pairs of 1990s. They dated for a long time and got married in 2008, only to get separated 8 years later. Both have remarried and have kids from new wedlock as well.

Jayabharathi and Sathaar – The beautiful heroine and super villain. They fell in love and got married. But personal indifferences resulted in the separation. She was earlier married to film producer Hari Pothan, the brother of Malayalam actor Prathap K. Pothan.

Mukesh Babu and Saritha: Though they have appeared in lesser number of movies together, they got married in 1989 and the couple had two sons. But they separated and most recently in 2013, Mukesh married noted artist and dancer, Methil Devika. It is Devika’s second marriage too.

Revathy and Suresh Menon: They together appeared in the Tamil movie – Puthiya Mugham. The couple didn’t have any children and Revathy is still single.

Prathap K Pothan and Radhika: Both were quite active in Malayalam in the 1980s. Pothen is best known for the movie, Thakara while Radhika played female lead in a few Mohanlal movies like Koodum Thedi and Makan Ente Makan. Radhika is now married to Tamil actor Sarath Kumar, while Pothan’s second marriage also resulted in divorce.

Lakshmi and Mohan: They sizzled onscreen for the bold movie – Chattakari. They fell in love on film sets and got married. It was Lakshmi’s second marriage and after this broken marriage, she fell in love with actor-director Sivachandran and got married.

Raghuvaran and Rohini: Rohini has been a popular and cute actress of Malayalam cinema in the 1980s. She was married to Raghuvaran, who has appeared in a few Malayalam movies like Daivathinte Vikruthikal, Addeham Enna Iddeham, Maanthrikam, Soorya Manasam, Vyooham etc.

Quite a few divorces also need special mention. Sheela and actor Ravichandran, Srividhya and film director George; Kalpana and film director Anil; Jagathy Sree kumar and Mallika Sukumaran, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and film producer Maniswami; screenwriter K. T. Muhammed and actress Zeenat; Nalini with co-star Ramarajan; and Sharada and Telugu actor cum producer Chalam are quite a few names.
