Raj Khosla – the master mind behind one of the most popular and classic suspense thriller trilogies of Bollywood cinema! Surprisingly, Khosla casted the graceful actress Sadhana Shivdasani for handling the role of the mysterious girl in all these three suspense thrillers - Woh Kaun Thi? (1964), Mera Saaya (1966) and Anita (1967). Woh kaun thi gave Sadhana the signature name of Mysterious Girl of Bollywood. Another surprising and amazing fact is that Sadhana portrayed double role in Woh Kaun Thi and Saaya by holding the suspense till the end that she plays the double role, and she appeared in a mysterious double role in Anita to make audience believe so and in the final scenes only it’s proved that she plays a single role.

Sadhana has also worked in Khosla hit Ek musafir ek hassena opposite Joy Mukherjee, known for the memorable songs composed by O. P. Nayyar. In fact apart from Mere mehboob and Arzoo – both the movies opposite Rajendra Kumar, most of her wonderful songs belong to the mysterious trilogy with Raj Khosle. Lag Jaa Gale and Nayana barse of Madan Mohan – Lata mangeshkar combination from Woh Kaun Thi own a distinct place in evergreen Bollywood classic hits. Same is the case of Nayanom mein badra chaaye and Tu jahan jahan chalega of Mera Saaya, based on Indian ragas. Sadhana looks so beautiful in all these pictured songs as well.

Sadhana played lead role opposite Manoj Kumar in both the first of the trilogies - Woh Kaun Thi and the last one – Anita, while Sunil Dutt played the male lead in the second part – Mera Saaya. Among the three, Woh Kaun thi and Mera saaya remain classics while Anita was not appreciated as the rest two. She was nominated for the Filmfare Award in Best Actress category for her role in Woh Kaun Thi? though she was not able to win it. The trilogy of suspense thrillers also helped Sadhana to cement her position among the best 5 most sough heroines of 1960s and she looks extremely graceful in her black and white shots. Khosla has also given many crime thrillers to Bollywood – the most notable ones being CID and Kaala Pani, both starring Dev Anand in lead roles. CID is regarded as one among the best crime thrillers ever.
