Piplantri Teaches You A Lesson

Piplantri – A village in Rajsamand district of southern Rajasthan has a lot of moral lessons to teach you. Every day when we hear a lot of news about aborting girl child in the villages of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, the news of a particular village of Rajasthan – the state most notorious for killing of girl child is far significant. Yes, you quoted it right. For the villagers of Piplantri, the birth of a girl child means celebrations. Thus they give new lessons to whole India that is famous for child abuse, raps and aborting girl child.

Now let me explain in detail. When a girl child is born in the village, villagers plant 111 trees in the village. It’s the unbroken law of Piplantri village of remote Rajasthan. This women empowerment activity was started by village's former sarpanch Shyam Sundar Paliwal, who lost his girl Kiran a few years back. In her memory, sarpanch initiated this program with the name ‘Kiran Nidhi Yogana’. So, whenever a girl child is born, the whole Piplantri village celebrates it like a spring and Earth Mother participates in it too. It has been started 6 years ago and till now, 2.5 lakh trees have been planted. They plant both medicinal and fruit plants that can be used in future. According to rules, no one can cut these trees and whole through the life time, these plants give enough food and shelter to human beings.

As soon as a girl is born, the family will receive 111 plants. This will be done free by Grama Panchayat. Not only that, 21000 rupees will be collected from villagers and given to girl’s father. Father should add 10000 rupees to it and do a fixed deposit scheme in any bank for the girl for 20 years. Girl should be given good education and parents should give assurance that their daughter will never be a victim of child marriage! He should protect the plants planted in her name too. What a heavenly idea!

Now we are living in a world where greenery is fading. If each and every village of our country implement and initiate such ideas, no doubt, our country will be free of global warming and child abuses. So, hats off to the village Piplantri that carries away the principles seeded by their former sarpanch Shyam Sundar Paliwal.
