Passed Away Peacefully But Still Want To Speak To You

It’s a story for media which will become a legend of tomorrow but it is the life and blood of a family which has lost its daughter in the most brutal way. I have nothing to say anything additional to the public about the Delhi gang rape when the voice of India has been echoed in every nook and corner of the nation only to see her pass away peacefully in Singapore hospital. But I have something to tell this world on behalf of her, who represents the sad plight and untold stories of thousands of Indian women.

“It is me the nameless victim speaking… are you able to hear me? I had thousands of dreams like every normal young girl. My boyfriend and I had great plans and great ideas. I wanted to fly like a butterfly fluttering my wings until my wings were broken on that eventful day. We were walking hand in hand talking about our future plans and smiling at sweet nothings which every lover on this earth wants to share. We dreamt about our future, we dreamt about our life, we dreamt about our tomorrows but we never imagined that that should be our last smile and never thought we had no tomorrow.

My struggle started. I cried and cried but no Indian could hear my voice. I begged them to leave me but they left only after sucking my blood. The pain of unexpected and unwanted penetration burned my body and soul together. I could not withstand the continuous preying of those brutal animals. I fainted only to be thrown on the streets at last.

I lost my senses but turned the headlines of the media. They said my lungs were damaged, my intestines were damaged and my brain was damaged, I understood my life was irrecoverably damaged on the whole. Still I wanted to live. Idea clashes, heated arguments and hot debates defending my case gave me hope that I have thousands of brothers and sister who would not let me die.

I have something to tell this society if only I resurrect. Even in this painful situation, I am glad that I could represent thousands of rape cases that are not brought to light. The laws are gender biased as those of one particular gender were the lawmakers for ages. We women have the same flesh, same blood, same feelings and same desires as you men. We gladly accept your supremacy; we voluntarily enjoy your sovereignty only because we consider you as our saviors. We are taught that way from our childhood days. The obsequiousness is injected into our blood from the day of our birth.

For ages hence, the values of chastity and virtuousness were said to be the assets of women who are meant to be only for men. Yes, we are for you as long as you think we have the same feelings as you have. We are for you so long as you consider us your soulmates. We are made for you if you take our hand and walk along with us in hurdles and obstacles. We are born for you only if you think you have to follow the same rules of chastity.

All these values break when you look at us as puppets for enjoyment. When you want to be loved out of fear but don't show any love, when you want to undress us with your vulgar eyes, when you want to have forceful sex without giving any pleasure in return and when you want to feed on us without worrying about our hunger, indeed all these values lose their values. I want to live to see this world change but I want to die if only my death will make that.

My unconsciousness made me not able to feel the pain of my body but I could not bear the pain of my soul with all these thoughts. When I saw a crowd of physicians around me cutting some parts of my body, I want to convey my thoughts to every true Indian who consider me as his sister. If I could solve the troubles of my suffering sisters, I want to live to see that. If my case could put an end to the male chauvinism, I want to live to enjoy that. If justice will win with right punishment to the offenders, I want to live to witness that. I want to live, live and live when my soul heard someone saying, ‘SHE PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY’…….”
