Many Bollywood producers and directors try to cash in on public and national holidays to release their films. Films released on these days have performed excellently well at the box office and have done business in crores of rupees.

Salman Khan has some recent releases on Eid and all the films went on to become huge successes. Some of the examples are Wanted released in 2009, Dabangg released on the next Eid. Then came Bodyguard in 2011 and finally Ek Tha Tiger was released on Eid 2012.

Last year too we saw an Eid release, but it will not be Salman Khan, but another Khan – Shah Rukh Khan. Salman’s Mental couldn’t be completed in time to be released on Eid, so SRK’s Chennai Express got the date and also went on to become a huge success.

This means all the films released on Eid since 2009 were blockbusters, be it Salman or Shah Rukh. To cash in on the same auspicious day, the team of Kick is working day in and day out to catch up with the schedule. It is expected that Salman’s Kick should be released on Eid.

Happy New Year will also see a holiday release and again Shah Rukh Khan. The film will be released on Diwali this year. SRK will be yet again paired opposite Deepika Padukone – his leading lady in Chennai Express.

The much awaited Bang Bang, starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif is also slated for a holiday release. Films that saw holiday releases have a very cozy and soothing history of ‘paisa vasool’, especially for the producers. The term ‘Rs. 100 crore club’ had become very popular those days, which is still a hot term.

Apart from the other films that are holiday releases, the prominent of them is Singham 2 – the sequel to Singham. Singham 2 has grabbed the August 15 release date, which is the Independence Day for India. The stars in the film are Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan also has a release on Christmas. His film is titled PK – or Peekay, will be ready until the Christmas to hit the screens. Anushka Sharma will be the female protagonist in PK.
