Perhaps Bollywood is the only film industry where combination teams of music composers have really worked out, whether it is Shankar-JaiKishan or Laxmikanth-Pyarelal of old Hindi music era, Shiv-Hari of medieval age or Nadeem-Shravaan and Jatin-Lalit of present times. One more amazing combination that I can remember right now is Dileep Sen – Sameer Sen. Yes, these music directors have always stayed as the supreme power in the music industry as long as stayed together and in most cases it’s also unfortunate to notice that, except Laxmikanth-Pyarelal duo and Shiv-Hari, all the musical pairs experienced tense out drifts in the last phase of their filmy career.

Shankar-Jaikishan team can be termed as the finest music composer directions in the history of Bollywood music. They have always surprised their fans with their magical hidden numbers that are entirely different from each other. They remained as the supreme power during the golden era of Hindi music – i.e. 1950’s and 1960’s. But during late 60’s a drift occurred in their friendship for using Sharada in the leading voice and when Jaikishen passed away during early 70’s it was something like the end of a big stage show, that’s not going to play again.

It exactly repeated in the case of present generation music composers Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit too. Real brothers known as Jatin-Lalit has contributed a lot to the success of many Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan movies also faced such worst times of their career. When they announced that they are not going to work together again, after the super success of Fanaa in 2006, Bollywood music lovers missed their melodies a lot. Through Jatin is still struggling to get a name in Bollywood, Lalit achieved success through ‘Munni badnaam hui’ and got his first Filmfare too for Debaang– an unachievable goal that they have never succeeded when worked together! Yet, we still believe that they together can give their best if they join hands together again.

Nadeem’s involvement in Gulshan Kumar’s murder case, at the peak of Nadeem-Shravan success journey was something like a shock to music lovers. Though they continued working for movies like Kasoor, Raaz, Dhadkan etc, when they ended their collaboration Nadeem-Shravan name was also forgotten in the fast numbers of present decade. Laxmikanth-Pyaralal duo continued to work still the death of Laxmikanth in 1998 – the only exception. Later too, though Pyarelal continued his work under the same name, it ended somewhere without anyone’s notice.

So, it’s crystal clear that due to personal conflicts, though many music directors have split, they were not able to succeed the similar way they have done alone with their musical friend.
