Chennai Expess is a Hindi film directed by Rohit Sheddy and produced by Gauri Ghan. It is both Nonstop Comedy and a Romantic film. The film is extremely successful in India and abroad and has earned Rs.192.85 crore till now.

Chennai express is a Shahrukh Khan starer movie with Deepika Padukone. The last film of the pair is Om Shanti Om.

The songs included in the film, Kashmir main tu kanyakumari North-South ki kat gyi dekho doori hi saari, Ban ke titli dil uda uda uda hai kahin door, Teri aankhon ka ishaara, can't take it no more are very popoular. It was dubbed in many languages such as English, Arabic, German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Malay, Turkish and Dutch. The official trailer of the film was released on 13 th June 2013. It has crossed 4 million views on You tube after 2 days launch. Lyrics of Chennai Express songs are by Amitabh Bhattacharya and its soundtrack is composed by Vishal-Shekhar.

The story was the Rahul’s(Sharukhan) journey from Mumbai to Rameshram. He was staying with his grandparents in Mumbai. Actually he planned a trip to Goa with his friends. But he and his friends were forced to change their plan, as his grandmonther told him to to go to Rameswaram and immerse the ashes of his Grandfather. On his way to Rameshwaram, he accidently met Meenalochini Azhagu Sundaram (Deepika Padukone)  in the Railway Station and  helped her board the moving train. This unexpected journey makes him realize about the importance of true love and sacrifice and they became lovers. Meenalochini was the daughter of Durgeshwara Azhagu Sundaram (Sathya raj) who was a well known tamil headman of the Komban village. Durgeshwara wants her to marry Thangaballi. She was escaping from her forced marriage and board the train to Rameshwaram. After a long battle, Meena's father and Tangaballi finally accepted Rahul as he had much bigger physical ability and political clout. In this film Nikitin Deer act as Thangabali, Kamini kausal as Rahul’s grand Mother and Priyamani in an item song 123 get on the Dance floor. The film earned  very much in just nine days in overseas. Now also it is moving as a nonstop Comedy.
