Animals Have Contributed A Lot For Bollywood Movies

Bollywood masala means anything can happen in an Indian script. It’s even possible to cast doves, monkeys and dogs as supporting actors of the movie. Through this article, I would like to introduce a few ‘animal actors’ of Bollywood who have played significant role in the success of some blockbusters, thus proving what I have told.

The first character that comes to my mind is none other than Tuffy of Hum aapke hain kaun. This Pomeranian dog has not only played his character wisely, but also has contributed a lot to the blockbuster hit of the movie. It’s not surprising that this dog was most loved by audience than real characters and has even helped the movie directors to collect rupees more than the blockbuster, Sholay, thus breaking its box office records. The way by which Tuffy acts as an umpire for a family cricket match and how he handles the climax, giving the love letter to Monish Behl are worth to watch! Perhaps it’s the only movie ever made in Bollywood where the climax scene is fully determined by a dog which unites the hero and heroine.

The second movie coming to my mind is also a ‘Dog movie’ – Teri Meherbaaniyaan! Perhaps it’s the only one movie ever made in Indian history where we loss both hero and heroine before the interval and animal carries the movie on his shoulder, and makes it a blockbuster hit too! Though it looks ridiculous and poor script, the movie was well received by audience with tears in their eyes. The way by which a dog takes revenge on those who killed his master was shown in a way, most appealing to the audience of 80’s who love such emotional over dosage!

Now let me talk a little about elephant of ‘Haathi mere saathi’. The movie shows the powerful relationship between man and elephant and perhaps the only successful movie on the subject of friendship with elephants, which clicked at box office. Though similar movies like Raja ko rani se pyar ho gaya was made in Bollywood, it couldn’t repeat the success of Rajesh Khanna’s Haathi mere saathi. Still it’s considered as one among the best watchable animal movies all time!

Before I wind up, let me mention a few more such ‘superstar animals’ of Bollywood - The snake of Dood ka karz, Dove of Meine pyar kiya and Dog of Maa need special mention.
