A Home For Frogs - It's Your Duty

 

Now man has recognized the need of frogs for human existence. Frogs serve man in many ways by killings pests and mosquitoes, thus cleaning our nature from diseases. So, through general awareness program it’s possible to build home for frogs. Ponds and canals are the dwelling areas of frogs. If water source is not available, frogs won’t get a medium to get multiply. If so, they will reduce in number considerably. So, if you are able to build a small pond in your school or home, it’s the best help you can provide for this group of scavengers of earth. By this way, you can reduce mosquitoes in your home premises too.

 

To make a pond, a shallow pit is enough. According to the size of available land, you can increase its surface area. In the bottom, sprinkle a layer of gravel or sand. Never cement its edge or fix stones. Instead you can plant a few plants or grass. It will provide biodiversity for your frog pond. Make it natural free of cement and concrete. Then fill it water. If it’s rainy season, rain water is the best option. You can use water from well too, but never use corporation water as it contains chlorine and other chemicals, not good for natural plants and animals. If the pit has some water source, it will automatically fill with rain water. Ferns will automatically grow in such ponds. You can also collect ferns from other water sources and put in your natural pond. Such water plants absorb carbon dioxide and poisonous methane thus reducing global warming and air pollution considerably.

 

You can plant lotus and lilies in small pots and place inside your pond. As soon as your frog pond is ready, frogs will arrive as guests to your pond. They lay eyes and you can see them floating on water surface. Accompanied by them, dragon flies and similar insects will reach your pond. If you plant trees near your pond, it provides cool shade. Its leaves will fall to pond, decay and give food to its living beings. No need to fear about mosquitoes and their eggs. Tadpoles love mosquito eggs a lot!
