Vijayta Pandit Biography

Vijayta Pandit is a former actress of Bollywood most popular for her debut movie, Love story (1981) against Rajendra Kumar’s son Kumar Gaurav. Their first movie was a blockbuster with numerous hit songs. They were romantically involved too, yet parents of both families didn’t approve the marriage. She has also worked as the leading actress of hit movies like Mohabbat (1985) starring opposite Anil Kapoor and Bengali film Amar Sangi (1987) along with Prasenjit directed by Sujit Guha. Her other Bollywood movies include – Jeete hain shaan se, Deewane tere naam ka, Zalzala and Pyar ka toofan. She worked aside Mithun Chakraborthy in Jeete hain shaan se and Deewane tere naam ka. As a playback singer, her songs has been recorded for the movies Jo jeeta wohi sikander, Chingari, Kabhi haan kabhi naa, Saazish and Dev.

Vijayta comes from a musical family originating from Pili Mandori Village of Hissar. Pandit Jasraj is her uncle. Her older sister Sulakshana Pandit, is an actress and playback singer – quiet similar to her career. Her brothers are famous and talented music directors of Bollywood who has delivered numerous blockbusters. They are none other than Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit, popularly known as Jatin Lalit. But the brothers have stopped working together. Now she is married to Adesh Srivastava, another successful music composer of Bollywood. Thus Vijayta belongs to a musical family filled with artists successful in the field of music.

She debuted silver screen with Love Story in the year 1981. Apart from the movie, songs like Yaad aa raha hai and Dekho meine dekha hai ek sapna became huge hits that time. The lovely pair represented the youth of 80’s and their styles and mannerisms were followed in college campuses that time. It developed a relationship between these two actors, but had to end it due to family tensions. Her second movie was also a hit – Mohabbat.

She was briefly married to film director Sameer Malkan who directed her in the flop Car Thief (1986). But later she fully concentrated to playback singing. The marriage collapsed and she married Aadesh Srivastava later, in the year 1990. Her pop album, Propose - Pyaar ka Izhaar was composed by her husband.
