Tripuraneni Maharadhi Biography

Tripuraneni Maharadhi was a Telugu cine personality best known as a screenwriter. He is remembered for political career too, and was associated with Telugu Desam Party before he launched his own political party 'Trilinga Praja Pragathi’ in 2004. As a screenwriter he is best known for Alluri Seetarama Raju, a 1974 Telugu biographical historical film based on the life of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. He owns more than 150 scripts to his credit, and has also produced a few Telugu movies. Maharadhi also served as Andhra Pradesh Congress State Secretary under Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

 

Tripuraneni Maharadhi was born on 20 April 1930 in Pasmarru, Andhra Pradesh. As a politician or celebrated screenwriter, he always remained in the right frame. He was instrumental in the launch of the TDP, and has been associated with a few more regional parties too. He was the first person to come up with the idea of a regional party in Andhra Pradesh, and also started a campaign namely 'Telugu Tejam’ to support the move. His slogan "Telugu Valla Atma Gauravam" was later used by NTR to promote his political party. As a politician he has promoted Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Godavari districts when Reddy was only a new face to the party. In 2004, Maharadhi launched TPP, a regional party.

 

Film writer earned recognition as a screenwriter and dialogue writer since 1970s. He shot to limelight with his memorable dialogues the blockbuster Alluri Seetarama Raju. After that he turned a busy writer in Tollywood. ‘Lava Kusa', ‘Kanchukota', ‘Bandipotu', ‘Pettandaru', ‘Desoddharakudu', ‘Hema Hemeelu' and ‘Ram-Robert-Rahim' are other major works. 82-years-old died of a cardiac arrest in 2011.
