S. P. Singh Baghel Biography

S. P. Singh Baghel is an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh and 4-times parliamentarian, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party. He currently serves as a parliamentarian in the 17th Lok Sabha headed by Narendra Modi and represents Agra constituency. Prior to his entry in BJP, he has been affiliated to regional parties, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party. He remained a prominent leader of Samajwadi Party in the 1990s and first half of 2000s, and has been elected to Lok Sabha thrice representing this party. Currently it’s his fourth term in Lok Sabha. He has also been elected as M.L.A. from Tundla as BJP member in 2017. He also served as a member of Rajya Sabha in 2014, representing Bahujan samajwadi Party.

 

His full name is Satya Pal Singh Baghel. He was born on 21 June 1960 in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Rambhrose Singh and Ram Shree Devi. He married Madhu Baghel in 1990 and has two children. He holds LLB, Masters in Science and Doctorate. His education was completed in UP and Madhya Pradesh. He joined politics as Samajwadi Party worker and had a long term association with the party.

 

Baghel represented the Samajwadi Party in the Jalesar Lok Sabha, Uttar Pradesh for three consecutive terms in 1998, 1999 and 2004. After being suspended from the party, he unsuccessfully contested Lok Sabha elections twice in 2009 and 2014 on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket. In 2014, Baghel was elected to the Rajya Sabha, but lost to the Bhartiya Janta Party candidate in following election. After a few setbacks he returned in a bang with 2019 general elections, where he got elected from Agra constituency.
