Thanjai Selvi Biography 
Thanjai Selvi is a folk singer and playback singer from Tamil Nadu, best known for rendering the song, "Jilla Vittu" from the movie Eesan in 2010. Her folk songs are very popular across Tamil Nadu. Eesan in 2010 was her first song in any Tamil film, and later she has sung a handful of songs in Tamil films. "Vedi Pottu" of Poraali, "Adiye Ivale" of Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai, "Aatha Nee Pethaya" of Ambuli, "Yenga pora maganey" of Madha Yaanai Koottam, "Thillana Paattukari" of Kondan Koduthan, "Eaam Maama Madura" of Vettaiyadu and "Maruthani" of Maruthavelu are her other recorded film songs.
Thanjai Selvi was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. She established herself as a leading folk singer of Tamil Nadu, which helped her to bag offers from Tamil films too. Eesan in 2010 gave her first break to films, where her solo song, a dance number, "Jilla Vittu" in folk style was an instant chartbuster. The song won Vijay Award for best folk song of the year. Since then she has been a seasonal singer in Tamil movies. Maruthani from Maruthavelu composed by James Vasanthan is yet another popular song. She sang this folk song aside yet another folk singer, Thanjai Iyappan. But the film went unnoticed.
Selvi has worked with legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja for the movie, Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai in 2011, and has also worked with James Vasanthan and Sundar C Babu among the others. She is active in social media like Facebook, and has appeared for television shows in a guest’s role.
