Tejendra Majumdar Biography 
Tejendra Majumdar is an Indian musician best known as a Sarod player. One of the foremost students of Bahadur Khan, he is a celebrated artist of this musical form in the present times. Apart from his guru, this renowned artist has associated with Ali Akbar Khan for many live stage concerts. He has also received training in Hindustani vocal and tabla during his younger days, before he completely switched over to the music instrument Sarod. He composed music for two Bengali movies – Tollylights and Hanankaal.
Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar was born on 17 May 1961. He is of Bengali origin. He was initiated to the world of music by his grandfather Bibhuti Ranjan Majumdar who taught him mandolin. He also learnt Hindustani vocal and tabla later. But later he completely switched over to sarod, and had a long term association with his guru Bahadur Khan till his death. He trained under Bahadur Khan for 18 years, and following his death, he continued training under Ajay Sinha Roy and Ali Akbar Khan. He is married to Manasi Majumdar, and the couple has one son.
At the age of 20, he stood first in AIR music competition in 1981, for which he was awarded the President's gold medal and the Pandit D. V. Paluskar award. As a professional sarod player, he is quite popular for his association with Shujaat Khan, and the duo featured in many duets, including the very popular compositions in raag Charukeshi. He has also been associated with many fusion compositions, and many artists belonging to this genre. He has performed in many prestigious music festivals like Sawai Gandharva Music festival, attended by music lovers of different age groups.
