Tarali Sarma Biography 
Tarali Sarma is an Indian vocalist, musician, music composer and playback singer from Assam, who won the most prestigious National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in the year 2003 for the Assamese film Akashitorar Kothare. She is the first female from the state to win the prestigious award. She is associated with Assamese classical, Assamese folk and modern genres of music. She is also a talented music director in the Assamese film industry. She is also associated with independent music, and has released music albums such as Abhixari Priya, Sonjoni, Sankar Madhav, Sneh, Pohar, Tarali, Henguliya and Bargit.
Tarali Sarma is the daughter of famous folk artist and Sangeet Academy award winner Prabhat Sarma. She created an identity of her own when she composed the music for an All India Radio Program at the tender age of 12. She went on to become a leading musician of Assamese music industry. An accomplished singer, composer and music director, she won National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in the year 2003, becoming the first Assamese singer to win this award. She is also the first female music director in the mobile theatres of Assam. Apart from films, she has rendered her voice for television serials, plays and independent music. She is a regular performing artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan.
’Abhiman’ is her first released independent music album. She has composed songs for 2 feature films, couple of short films and many documentaries and serials. Traditional & Folk Music is her first love, though she has experimented with music of different types. Her creations are closely blended with various elements of nature and its beauty, and she loves extensive travels for her work. The new face of Assamese tradition, she performed in Valley Forge in Pennsylvania in 2009 organized by Assam Society of America.
