Suman Sridhar Biography 
Suman Sridhar is an Indian singer and performer associated with independent music. She is also a songwriter, and actor, associated with different mediums such as theatre, art and movies. Ajeeb Aashiq/Strange Love by filmmaker Natasha Mendonca is her debut film, and she produced this movie as well. The movie was premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2016 and received the Bright Future Award nomination. She is associated with this profession since 2008 and has completed one decade in the industry. She has also rendered her voice for a few Bollywood songs.
Suman Sridhar was brought up in Chembur, Mumbai. She did her early schooling at St. Anthony's Girls High School, Chembur. Her family has links to music world. Her father plays the tabla and harmonium, while her mother had trained under noted classical singer, Prabha Atre. Her family shifted to New Jersey when she was 14. After that she got attracted to western music, and Busta Rhymes and Lauryn Hill were her early influences. Now she has strong classical base with jazz and contemporary music as well. Suman earned an undergraduate degree in Western Music and Gender Studies from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
Her musical career began in 2008 when she co-founded Sridhar/Thayil, the lyrical post-pop music duo, which earned success in a short time frame. Rolling Stone magazine remarked the association as "redefining indie music in India." They released their studio album STD in 2012. She is also associated with theatre productions in different roles such as writer, director and performer. Yoni Ki Baat, The Flying Wallas: Opera Noir, Between The Waves, The Kochi Intervention and Transformation 19124 are some of her works, where she played different roles. Sridhar set the air waves abuzz with her versions of the classic Bollywood numbers Hawa Hawai and Khoya Khoya Chand, for the 2011 film Shaitan.
