Sudha Ragunathan Biography 
Sudha Ragunathan is a Carnatic vocalist from Bangalore. She is one of the most accomplished Carnatic singers at the present times. She is a recipient of Padma Shri, Sangita Kalanidhi and Kalaimamani award for her overall contributions to Carnatic music. Apart from India, she has performed live in many live concerts across the world. She is also known for her charitable work, who conducts musical concerts for relief funds. She heads Samudaaya Foundation that provides healthcare to the poor. She got the privilege to learn under legendary vocalist Dr. M.L Vasantha Kumari, for long 13 years.
She was born and brought up in Bangalore. Both her parents are great devotees of Sai Baba. Born in a musical family, she received her initial training in Carnatic music from her mother. She started learning music at the age of 3 and sang bhajans. Later she studied under B. V. Lakshman. It was followed by her Carnatic music under Dr. M.L Vasantha Kumari for 13 years. Her family moved to Chennai in 1977 where she completed her post-graduation in Economics from Ethiraj College. She got married to Raghunathan in 1982 and the couple had two children. Even while pregnant with her children she was busy in music concerts.
Since 1990 she is a regular performer at Madras Music Season, Chennai. At present she is one of the leading and busiest Carnatic vocalists of the country. Apart from classical music, she is also interested in doing experiments with fusion music. She has also rendered her voice as a playback singer for a few Tamil film songs. Music was only her hobby and she wanted to become a doctor. But destiny brought her to music world.
