Srikanto Acharya Biography 
Srikanto Acharya is a noted musician from Bengali. He writes, composes and sings in Bengali language. He is a successful playback singer who has won many state awards. In 2003, he won best playback singer award of Anandalok for the movie, Aamar Bhuvan and Bengal Film Journalists' Association award for the movie, Titli. He has also been awarded with Outstanding Young Person's Award for his achievements in Music awarded by the North Calcutta Junior Chamber.
Srikanto was born in Kolkata in a middle class Bengali family as the son of Rohini Nandan Acharya and Kana Acharya. His father is a philosophy professor, while his mother, a housewife. He has a sister also. He did his schooling from Jodhpur Park Boys School. His father wanted Srikanto to secure a secure government or bank job. His family consists of self-made professionals and none of them were related to music. But from the early childhood he used to frequently listen to gramophone records of music. His sister used to sing as well and Srikanta accompanied her to play rhythm.
He got formal training in music from Dakshinee and learnt tabla from Ustad Ali Ahmed Khan. He started his career as a sales professional, but quit the job later to pursue a career in music. Utpal Chakravarty, proprietor of an old music store convinced him to sing for a cassette for Sagarika Music. The idea clicked and later he became a well known personality of Bengali music. Many of his private and devotional albums became top sellers of the year. A few of his most popular albums include - Bristi Tomake Dilam, Nodir Chhobi Anki, Ghuri and Jibon Chhobi. In 2004, Jibon Chhobi received best Rabindrasangeet Music Award. Three of his albums have won Anandabazar Best Puja Album of the year. His collaboration album, Pather Saathi with Rajeeb Chakraborty was the highest Selling Bengali Album of the year 2003.
