Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury Biography 
Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury is a very popular playback singer associated with Bengali movies. She has also done her own solo albums and remained successful. She also works as a guest lecturer of psychology at the Asutosh College in Kolkata, aside her music career. She has released three independent solo albums up-to-date and a single. They include - Chupkatha (2009), Aami Achhi Er Majhe (2014), Mor Bhabonare (2016) and Aabdaar (Single) (2017). Somlata sang her first playback for the crossover film Perfect Woman in 2007, and since then she has sung many hit songs in the past one decade or so.
Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury hails from Kolkata, West Bengal. She was born in a family of rich zamindars. Her father’s family is of Bangladeshi origin and is a descendent of Muktagachha zamindar family of Mymensingh in Bangladesh. She was born on 11 February 1985 as the daughter of Shyamal Acharyya Chowdhury. She started formal training in music at the age of 9, under the guidance of Pandit Biresh Roy. She got married to her childhood friend Aakash Roy in 2012. He is a software engineer by profession.
Perfect Woman in 2007 marked her singing debut in feature films. Cross Connection, Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona, Seven Days, Bedroom, Elar Char Adhyay, Chotushkone, Bitnoon, Aamar Aami, Dutta Vs Dutta, Maach Mishti and More, Bojhena Se Bojhena, Half Serious, Bangla Naache Bhangra, Khola Hawa, Jomer Raja Dilo Bor, Uma, Shudhu Tomari Jonyo etc are some of the movies for which she rendered her voice. She is quite active in her live performances and independent music journey too. She owns a musical band, Somlata and The Aces which conducts shows in India and abroad.
