Shujaat Khan Biography 
Shujaat Khan is a sitar player of the Imdadkhani gharana of Hindustani music. He is the son of legendary sitar player Ustad Vilayat Khan. This musician has released 60 albums till now and has been nominated at Grammy awards. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album for his association with the band Ghazal with Iranian musician Kayhan Kalhor. He belongs to Bengal. Royal Albert Hall in London, Royce Hall in Los Angeles and Congress Hall in Berlin remain his most memorable performances.
Shujaat was born on 19 May 1960 in Kolkata as the son of legendary sitar player Ustad Vilayat Khan. He was born in a musical family that inherited music for the past 7 generations. His grandfather, Ustad Enayat Khan; his great-grandfather, Ustad Imdad Khan; and his great-great-grandfather, Ustad Sahebdad Khan were all doyens of Imdadkhani gharana of Hindustani music. His siblings too are famous musicians. Hidayat Khan is a famous sitarist. Of two sisters, Zila Khan is a famous sufi singer.
Now Shujaat Husain Khan is a leading name of Imdadkhani gharana. He has performed throughout India and has toured in many foreign countries. He has performed at performed at the Carnegie Hall, New York; Paramount Theater, Seattle, and Meyers Symphony Theater, Dallas. He also performed in concerts during the 60th Independence day. His works are noted for freshness, rhythmic, experimental and spontaneity. He is also known for his exceptional voice, particulary with folk songs for which he is popular as a vocalist. Lajo Lajo is his most popular folk album and Hazaron Khwaishen is his poetry work. He has been associated with several artists and has also been featured in jugalbandi concerts.
