Shamitha Malnad Biography 
Shamitha Malnad is a Kannada playback singer who shot to fame after singing the song "Madhura Pisumaatige" for the movie – Birugaali in 2009. The song gave her Filmfare award, Suvarna Film Award and South Scope Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the same year. Shukriya Shukriya from “Ninagaagi” is her first noticed song. She is a dentist by profession. Apart from film songs, she also sings Sugama Sangeetha and Devotional albums and also known as a dubbing artist and anchor.
She was born in Thirtahalli of Shimoga, Karnataka. U.V. Ramachandra & H.G. Sunanda are her parents. She is married to Arun Kumar. D. K and the couple has two children. She learnt Hindustani music from Pandit Sheshadri Gawai. The devotional album "Kanive Kabbali" in 1996 marked her singing debut. She made her playback singing debut through Ninagaagi in 2002. She was given the first break to movies by music director Gurukiran. "Shukriya Shukriya" for the same movie was a huge hit. After that she sung for more than 500 movies. She has also released 7 solo albums belonging to Kannada and Telugu languages. She also anchors a few shows.
She has also participated in reality show, Thaka Dhimi Tha Dancing Star, as a contestant. She has recorded nearly 5000 songs till now. They belong to films as well as private albums and has rendered her voice for 13 different languages. Now she balances both her singing and dental professions. She really wanted to become a gynecologist. But later she learnt dual degrees – BDS from Vokkaligara Sangha Dental College, KIMS, Bangalore and the second in Arts from Hindi Prachar Sabha, Chennai.
