Sandeep Nath Biography

Sandeep Nath is an Indian writer and film lyricist in Bollywood. “Mujhko Kuch Bhi Naam Doh” - a collection of Hindi poetry and “Darpan Ab Bhi Andha Hai” - a collection of Ghazals are his published books. As a lyricist, his noted songs are included in the movies, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Sarkar raj, Saawariya, Page 3, Paan Singh Tomar, Agnipankh, Rakht, Bhoot, Ek hasina thi, Bullet Raja and Aashique 2. As a lyricist he got first appreciation through the songs of Sawariya for which he got Stardust awards. He received nomination at Apsara awards as well. He is a lawyer by profession. He is a dialogue writer too, who writes for television serials. Afsar Bitiya of Zee Tv and Ek Ghar Banaunga of Star Plus are his recent works. Sandeep rose to instant fame after penning the lyrics – Sun Raha hai of Aashique 2, the biggest musical hit of 2013.

Though he started writing at the age of 12, he seriously took up writing poetry since he was studying law and used to recite at family get-togethers. He was born and brought up in a Bengali family in UP. He studied in Allahabad, Moradabad & Bijnor. He started sending poems to publications and they got published. He started journalism while studying at college and has written numerous columns and articles in several publications and magazines. He wrote columns, crime and social stories, and political essays, apart from poems. He has also worked as editor for several newspapers in U.P & Delhi.

As a lyricist, one of his earliest big breaks was page 3, when he wrote 5 songs. Kitni ajeeb sung by Lata Mangeshkar was an instant hit. After that, songs of Saawariya, Paan Singh Tomar and Paan Tomar Singh just happened. Now he has reached stardom with the hit lyrics of ‘Sun raha hai’.
