Sanam Shetty Biography

Sanam Shetty is a south Indian film actress, who has appeared in both Malayalam and Tamil movies, mostly known for supporting roles. Malayalam movie, Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus starting Mammootty in lead role is her most recent release. 2012 Tamil movie, Ambuli marked her big screen debut where she played the role of Poongavanam. This science-fiction thriller film directed by Hari Shankar and Hareesh Narayan was the first Tamil movie released in 3D-Format. Same year she debut Malayalam cinema, playing supporting role in Cinema Company, a friendship story which tells the cinema dreams of a group of young friends. Maayai and Kalaivendhan are her other Tamil movies. IntintaAnnamayya (Telugu) and Ravu (Malayalam) are her upcoming releases.

She was born as Sanam Prasad in Bangalore, Karnataka. Her father is from Karnataka and mother is from Andhra Pradesh and she speaks both Telugu and Kannada. She was a software engineer by profession. She worked in UK in a software firm till she entered movies in 2011. She has started doing modelling assignments during her college days. Even when she started working in IT, she continued her modelling profession. Though she received acting offers while at UK, she decided to come back to India to pursue a career in south Indian film industry.

Sanam's first film was Ambuli, an experimental film with actor-director R. Parthiepan. She also debut Malayalam the same year with ‘Cinema Company’. After that, she decided to quit her IT job and stay in film industry forever. She is to debut in Telugu films with Intinta Anamayya. In her upcoming Tamil flick, Kalaivendhan directed by Parasuram she is to play lead role. She also plays a double role in the same movie.
