Sameer Biography

Sameer is a popular lyricist of present Bollywood and has been active in it since early 90’s. Perhaps his pen has written maximum songs for Bollywood among all lyricists and often termed as lyrics machine of Bollywood. He has written more than 4000 songs till now for 500 movies. His association with music directors Nadeem-Shravan and Jatin-Lalit are quite significant and has given blockbuster musical hits to the industry. He is the son of famous lyricist of yesterdays – Anjaan, who has penned maximum hit songs for megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Sameer has been nominated numerous times in Filmfare and he won it 3 times for the songs – Nazar ke saamne of Aashique, Teri ummeed tera intezaar od Deewana and Ghungat ki aad se of Hum hai rahi pyar ke the following year. Title song of Kuch kuch hota hai won him Zee cine awards in 1998.

 

As a lyricist he debut Bollywood in the year 1983 with the movie Bequadar. Though he has written lyrics for a few movies in 80’s, his major hit came with Aashique in 1989. The song Nazar ke samne gave him the Filmfare awards too. Other songs – Mein duniya bhula doonga, Ab tere bin, Tu Meri Zindagi, Jaane Jigar Jaaneman and Bas ek sanam chahiye aashique ke liye. Aashique turned to be the big breakthrough of his career followed by Dil in the following year. Songs like Na jaane kaha dil kho gaya and Humne ghar choda hai established his association with Nadeem Shravan team. In 1991, mega blockbuster songs of Saajan were released. Mera dil bhi, won Filmfare nomination. All songs were remembered for its lyrics as well as its lovely composition – Bahut pyar, Mera dil bhi, Dekha hai pehli baar, Tum se milne and Jiye to jiye kaise. Till 1995, he has been successively nominated in Filmfare.

 

Among his major hits, movies include – Dil, Ashique, Saajan, No enry, Kabhi khushi kabhi gum, Beta, Dhoom, Rowdy Rathod, Hum hai rahi pyar ke, Devdas, Sawariya, Aksar, Tere naam, Raja hindusthani, Debaangg 2, Fiza, Dhadkan, Chal mere bhai, House ful 2, Coolie no.1, Raaz, Dil hai tumhara, Deewana and Kuch kuch hota hai. He has also written 950 songs for Anand-Milind. Now also he is busy in Bollywood.
