Sachin Pilot Biography

Sachin Pilot is a young politician and parliamentarian belonging to the Indian National Congress. He is Minister of Corporate Affairs in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, a portfolio which was held by his father Rajesh Pilot during P.V. Narsimha Rao's tenure. Currently he serves as the President of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. In the recent surveys of online fashion store Myntra, Sachin Pilot has been voted the most stylish and exuberant Indian politician by its customers, ranked on the basis of their dressing sense, style and fashion quotient. He is listed among the ‘Top 100 Handsome Indian Men’ by Webindia123. He became one of the youngest Parliamentarians of the country at the age of 26. He is the first Union minister of India to be commissioned as a regular officer in the Territorial Army and therefore known as Lieutenant Pilot.

Sachin Pilot was born on 7th September, 1977, in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh as the son of influential congress leader, Rajesh Pilot who has served as a parliamentarian and union minister. He has been a member of India’s armed force as well. His mother, Rama Pilot has also contested the Assembly elections in Rajasthan from Dausa constituency in Bundi district. Rajesh Pilot died in a car accident in 2000 and Sachin started his political journey at a very young age. Pilot holds MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and has also worked for a brief period Delhi Bureau of British Broadcasting Corporation and General Motors.

He joined Indian National Congress in 2002. He contested elections for the first time in 2004, from the same constituency his mother has contested. He was elected as Member of Parliament, where he won with a huge margin of 1.2 lac votes. In 2009 he got elected from Ajmer, thus becoming one of the youngest parliamentarians of India. He is married to Sara Abdullah, daughter of noted politician Farookh Abdullah.
