Rupak Kulkarni Biography 
Rupak Kulkarni is an Indian flautist associated with Hindustani music. He is best known for his live performances, and has also collaborated with artists of different genres. He is a disciple of Hariprasad Chaurasia, who trained him in Maihar gharana of music. His flute concerts are aired on All India Radio, World Space Radio and various TV channels. He is a regular performer of Doordarshan for cultural events. He is a top grade artist of All India Radio. ITC Artist of the month and Pannhala Ghosh Award are the major honours received by him till now.
Rupak Kulkarni was born into a musical family. With strong musical background backed by his father, Rupak received initial music lessons from his father Malhar Rao Kulkarni. His advanced learning under Hariprasad Chaurasia has shaped his career a lot. He started learning from this living legend at the age of 9. With arduous training and hard work he has mastered Dhrupad, Khayal and Tantrakari styles equally well. Since then he has performed in almost all major music concerts within the country and several performances abroad also. Tansen Samaroh, Times of India 150 years celebration concerts, Ustad Amir Khan Samaroh, Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Festival etc are a few to mention.
He made his first solo performance at the age of 11. He released his first musical album when he was only 18. The album was titled Tenderly. Since then he has released around 25 albums, collaborating with other musicians. He has released both devotional and instrumental albums. Currently he is one among the flute exponents belonging to Maihar gharana. His recitals give a rare treat combining Dhrupad and Khayal Gayaki, melodious Aalap and scintillating Tatkar. He owns superb breath control and dexterous finger work, which make him a master.
